Subject: Adobe interferes with Default Mail Font
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: New Features
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.2
Reproducible: Always

The 8.5.2 feature "set current font as mail default" is brilliant. Sadly, it fails to work as advertised on any of our Windows 7 PCs where an Adobe product like "Adobe Acrobat X Suite" is installed.
Once that is on the PC, even if never used, even if later removed, the user cannot get mail to use the desired font. For example, a user types some Verdana 10 point and choose Text >> set current font as mail default, and a popup displays Verdana 10 pt in the confirmation box. However the next email comes up with the Body set to "Default Serif". Looking into the NOTES.INI there is now a line
NAMEDSTYLE6_FACE=Default Serif
where we expected a line
NAMEDSTYLE6_FACE=Verdana
Changing the line manually and restarting has no effect -- all new mail uses Default Serif.
Some other fonts behave the same; some don't.
This is a problem in 8.5.2, 8.5.2.1, 8.5.2.2, 8.5.2.3

The problem is easily reproduced. The Adobe site
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=acrobat_suite&loc=en
offers a free trial version that only requires installing (not opening or activating) to "break" the default mail font feature in Notes.
