DB2 vs SQL

We are setting up IBM Traveler 8.5.3 in HA and have a question regarding the performance difference between using a DB2 or SQL database.

Is there a noticable difference between using either technologies? Or is it just personal choice to make the final decision?

SQL is our preference due to in-house skills.
