How to set the selected option in a radio button field

In the options of the radio button field itself on the second tab called "Control" is a section called "Choices". There I chose "Use Formula for choices" and wrote the field name of the hidden field B. The result on opening the form is, that all values in hidden field B are visible as options but none is selected.
Unfortunately I do not know any way of defining which of the option is preselected. There is no configuration possibility in the the properties of the field. Nor can I see a way to set it via LotusScript and the representing NotesItem object of the radio button field. In Javascript for the web exists the possibility to explicitly set the selected option of a radio button field. Is this possible via Formula language or LotusScript too?
