API program problem

- we finally determined, with the patient help of IBM support, that it was caused by a third party application we were using.

This was a java program that was accessing transaction-logged databases locally rather than through the domino database server. It would simply not let go of the file during shutdown, and the LOGASIO process could not stop.

The software vendor of this rogue code required us to upgrade to 2008 for their latest version, which is where I got the idea that 2008 was part of the problem.
