The pre-loader is only used for the full client and I'm the only person in the building running the full client; everyone else does thin.
As I recall, when we created the Notes installer (handled by IT not Domino) it was built without the pre-loader configured. OTOH the process of building out the install image was...how you say...confusing...so who the heck knows.
In any case, we're not going to do any kind of bulk fix...just too much pain to make that happen.
I deleted cache.ndk, didn't make any difference. I also removed fti folders but I have not tried ncompact.
FYI, we don't do local dbs here; everything is on the server and nobody does local replicas of anything. We're also an Outlook/Exchange mail shop so no mail is involved.
Oh year, replication:
- On Schedule not checked
I enabled it, then deselected 'On Start'. Still hung on start. Turned it back off, still hangs.
So far, I've only heard back from two people; one sees the hang, the other doesn't. It'll take a couple of days for folks to respond and I'll probably need to ping them again next week.
FYI, this is the last day of our week and I'm leaving in about 3 hours so if you reply and I don't respond, I'll be back at in on Monday.
Thank you!

Just gets weirder.
I ran a program called 'process explorer' so I could watch processes in real time.
The taskloader doesn't run for 30 seconds, it's only active for about 1 or 2 then is shut down.
I think the loader may be a marker for whatever is slowing down the client but it's not actually what's causing the problem.
I didn't see any other processes fire off during the Notes hang.
I tried running another app called Process Monitor but our systems are locked down so this one won't run properly.
