how to recertify a user id.

It depends if the user id is expired or not.

You need to have the certifier id that was used to create the user id in the first place.
For example for John Smith\ACME you need the \ACME cert id and password.

How to tell which user certificate is about to expire?
Open the certlog.nsf, or the People / certificate expiration view in the names.nsf .
