Why do you use the basic client on the Mac?

We're curious as to why you use the basic client on the Mac rather than the standard client. As we plan for future releases of Notes we're seeing less of a need for the basic client on the Mac and as of now are looking at not doing one for 8.5.4 so it would be great to understand your reasoning for using the basic client. Thanks in advance.
