We have an application which includes a form that has a hidden attachment.
When users create new Notes documents, the system grabs an MS Word attachment from a hidden template document, updates the contents of that Word document with custom information, and attaches it to the new Notes document.
We would like to create a button on the form to control the launch of the attachment, so that the user can edit the attachment and have it saved back to the Lotus Notes document when they save it in MS Word.
Yes we know that, if the users had access to the attachment icon, they could then edit that attachment by double-clicking the icon and selecting "Edit". However, that is not in the system spec - the attachment needs to remain hidden.
This seems to be an age old issue that traces back to very early versions of the Lotus Notes client.
We don't want to detach the attachment and edit it. Once it has been detached, you lose the ability to have changes written back to the document attachment.
Essentially, we want to reproduce the native ability to launch an attachment in-place with lotusscript.
Is this even possible? Many thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!
