Deletion forces a document to be reloaded from disk afterwards.

After reinstantiating the NotesDocument object you'd then be able to access its new contents, as modified by the C-API part of your code. At least so it works within LotusScript. I thought it might be worth for you trying if it works the same way when you access Notes via COM. If it does, you'd avoid having to reinitialize the whole session.
