BES 5 contacts sync

RIM gave you the B answer. The A answer is, if the user is already synching their contacts, then their contacts are already inside their mail db, so just tell BES to look there.
In the BAS (BB Admin Service) find a user, under Messaging Config go into Default Config, go to the Organizer data synch tab, then in the Address Book section fill in the "Location - server" and "Location - relative path" fields.
IMPORTANT: the server name only works for me if I put the full canonical name as in CN=MyServer/OU=Servers/O=Acme
As long as you tell BAS where the contacts are he will synch the handheld from there, so copying all those local names.nsf up is just extra overhead.
