ConvertToMime not available via Java API

I'm trying to convert a domino email to a MIME mail using the method document.convertToMime(2) of the remote Java Interface (NCSO.jar) on an 8.5.3 server. Unfortunately every call ends up with a "not implemented" exception, but there is no information in die API that this method is not available via COM or Java Remote Interface.
Nevertherless is there any way for converting a Email to MIME via the Java Remote interface or to export the Email as EML, which is my primary goal?
