Thanks David - here's the latest information on the issues you've identified:
1. Installer is missing the component list in the "Select Components to Install" screen. (Even if they cannot be de-selected they should be listed). Also the space required is listed as "0KB" which is incorrect. In some cases the "Continue" button is greyed out until you "Go Back" and then advance again to this stage. Then the "Continue" button is available.
Clicking on "Continue" does then advance the installer to the next stage. This has been resolved - current builds show the component select list and show size for the components selected:
2. Installer is missing some text in the "make default email client" check box screen. Clicking on "Continue" does advance the installer to the next stage. I believe this has been resolved:
3. De-selecting the "make default email client" check box and then clicking "Continue" crashes the installer. This has been resolved and is fixed in recent builds. Tracking bug number JLLU7AUE7G.
4. We have experienced several incidences of overlay installs not producing a usable installation (The Notes client will not launch). In many cases it seems necessary to uninstall the previous beta before installing the next beta version. That is correct - upgrade is not currently supported in the beta versions and you must uninstall before reinstalling Notes. We are working on fixing our remaining upgrade issues now.
5. In some cases the ~/Library/Preferences/Notes Preferences file must be deleted to prevent a missing "user".nsf error and other issues. This then requires the user to repeat some stages of the initial client set up. I would like some more information on this - do you have logs, or can you detail how you ran setup to get these errors?
6. The client uninstaller works *much* more quickly than previous beta versions. Thanks!
7. Using the Red close window button initiates a Quit event. This behaviour is alien to Mac users whereby closing the last application window does not normally cause the application to quit (as with the Windows model). This was raised as issue SLAE7AQSYZ, however there are no plans to fix this in the 8.5 release of Notes. There are some apps on the Mac whereby the "red x" closes out app entirely. Is this a deployment blocker for you?
8. More general issue with 20-30 sec. delays (SBoDs) when dragging single or multiple messages from the Inbox to other message folders. During this time all Finder application switching activity is locked-out. This is a known issue related to UI controls on the Leopard Operating System. To confirm it's the same issue, if you collapse Sametime or hide the search bar in your inbox (Deselect "View...Search this View") the issue should go away. If this is the solution for the issue you're reporting, we're working closely with Apple to get a fix into the next seed of Leopard.
9. The client takes an extended period to quit (particularly if replicate on quit is set) and can prevent a Mac user from logging out or shutting down cleanly. The shutdown issue is currently being worked as JLLU6XHBER. We haven't identified a fix yet, but it's actively being investigated.
10. Can't send Mac document bundles (e.g. RTFD, Keynote, Pages) as attachements - must be zipped first. They must be named "filename.key.zip" to be recognised and displayed on an iPhone. This issue has been reported as DBOR77MQ3E and it is because, as you indicated, these bundle files are directories and not single files. This issue is being considered for a post 8.5 release.
11. Cannot copy selected text out of preview window or an open message - get normal "you can't do that" alert sound. Edit menu - Copy doesn't work either - but with no error sound. The application focus seems to be held elsewhere but there's no indication of this to users. If you double-click in the open message body window then the message formatting changes and selected text can be copied. (What does double-clicking do here?) Displaying the page source, selecting and copying also works as expected. This may be related to an HTML copying issue we're working right now. Do you see this with both plain-text and MIME-formatted messages? If it's HTML, the issue is being tracked here - SLAE7EVSWL.
