Why not

Thanks. I've already done this by doing:

File -> Security -> User Security and then ticked the option 'Don't prompt for a password from other Notes-based programs'. Is this the right setting?

Unfortunately when switching to an id file I still get a prompt if I get the password wrong:

The ID file being used is: CN=Test Test/=Development
Enter password (press the Esc key to abort):

I've also tried adding the following to notes.ini file

EXTMGR_ADDINS=btnotesext.dll

As suggested in http://supportkb2.binarytree.com/support/supportknow2.nsf/5e1098f76629af2186256be9006052b5/e92c51675632c388862571b600187696?OpenDocument

...but I still get the prompt and the calling java hangs as a result.

It's good to have the password check (I want the log in attempt to fail if the password is wrong). I just need some way to stop it stalling the program when the password is wrong as sometimes people type the wrong thing.
