Subject: Problem with creating local replica
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Notes Client
Technical Area: Administration
Platform: ALL
Release: 8.5.1
Reproducible: Always

I'm trying to set up policies for offline replication. I have been struggling with this for several days.

I have created a customized install kit of Lotus Notes 8.5.1 Swedish. In this kit there is a ConfigFile and a few notes.ini-settings and a customized Bookmark.ntf.

The goal is that offline replicas of Mail and Mobile Directory Catalog are created after the user has started the notes client for the first time.

The problem I have is that even though I successfully push out replication schedule the replication is not Enabled. Also the MDC is not enabled but has high priority which is strange.

The "Replication and Sync" tab looks like this:
"Enabled" "High Priority" "Application" "Last run" "Scope" "Summary"
[NOT enabled at all] Syncronize Contacts
[only high prority enabled] Mobile Directory Catalog
[nothing enabled] Username ( <-- this is the mail file)
[nothing enabled] Templates (.NTF)

An empty replica of the mail and mobile directory catalog are created, but as the replication is not set up there is no data inside.

The Desktop Setting:
* Create As new replicas on user's machine: mdf.nsf
* Mobile directory catalogs: mdf.nsf
* Local mail file: Create locale mail file replica
* Mail file location: on Server
* When to create replicas: On next scheduled replication
* Enable replication for all locations: Yes
* Normal priority replication: Yes
* And a schedule
All above with "Set value and prevent changes".

In the ConfigFile I have tested and put in:
Replication.Schedule=1
But it doesn't seem to help.

Also, is there a way to "Syncronize Contacts" if the server is still on 8.5FP1 and the client is on 8.5.1?

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!

UPDATE: I tested 8.5.0 and the replication was enabled. So it is definitely a bug in 8.5.1 (I tested Swedish 8.5.1 Windows XP and English 8.5.1 Linux). I'm reporting this as a PMR tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: It turned out to be a known bug described in this SPR: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1LO45878
