Can you just route all mail to one mail file?

Just take all the names the user is known as and add them as aliases to one of the Person documents, deleting the other. Then all mail, regardless of the name used, routes to the same mail box. This is assuming the two accounts are in the same mail domain. If not, then you can create easy access from one account to the other with the technique shown here:
