Not sure it's possible

Let me restate to confirm understanding:

Assume a document has 5 children.
Field B for child 1 is 'My Value'
Field B for child 2 is 'Another Value'
Field B for children 3-5 is 'We all have the same value'.

You want to see:
Parent
My Value
Another Value
We all have the same value

You do not want to see:
Parent
My Value
Another Value
We all have the same value
We all have the same value
We all have the same value

If that's true, there is no way to do that without adding a flag to the children that sets one the 3 with the same value to some unique value (like 'Show me').

As you've found, you can categorized and display one category for each value of Field B but the underlying docs are still present - that's the way it works.

Hope that helps.

Doug
