Upgrade to Domino 9 and it gets much easier

The Domino Access Services will allow access to the calendars with JSON. See http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ddwiki.nsf/xpAPIViewer.xsp?lookupName=IBM+Domino+Access+Services+9.0.1#action=openDocument&content=catcontent&ct=api

This would be a good solution for your use case.
