1) What are your thoughts on BES? Does it work well? Does it correctly sync mail, calendar, contacts etc...?
Yes, sometimes you need some manual changes to get the contacts working
2) Do Blackberry users authenticate with their HTTP Notes Internet password? (Our users Windows password syncs with their Notes ID and HTTP password) I don't want them to have two sets of passwords.
Not necessary, after activation it just works without authentication
3) Can BES be installed on our mail/home server or does it require its own dedicated Domino Server?
Yes, but preferably on a separate server.
4) Does the BES license need to be renewed every year? Or once we buy it its ours for ever?
You can buy it once, you can also install BES Express which is free. But look at your requirements for this solution if this is an option.
5) Anything else I should know?
I am not shure whether RIM would live in a few years. According to my opinion they have a very nice way of delivering messages and enabling web browsing. But when a server of RIM fails you might fail to get your mail or browse. It is nice but according to me this technique is outdated (maybe that could be a reason for not choosing BB also).
You could outsource this. We also deliver this BES service for customers who do not want the maintenance of a BES service. This could be nice if you only have one or two BB's.

Peter
