Automating db copy

I'd like to use some free backup solution. If there is a good free one you guys know, please share.

I also could automate the housekeeping of backup copies using a custom shell script (Linux). But how do I automate the Notes part (making periodic local copies of the Notes database). I'll need to manually do a copy every day and then run my backup script?
