Yes, this is the obvious way to install a Notes client on a thin client terminal server solution, but Lotus Support clearly aren't enthusiastic about this approach. See this technote (Title "Is Running Client Notes.ini and/or Notes Data Directory on a File Server a Supported Configuration?":
