RE: Anti-Spam Abilities ~Samuel Elresaskiakoi 15.Oct.02 05:39 PM a Web browser Domino Server 6.0Windows 2000
Glad to hear that Notes will support blacklists. We've been using them on a sendmail server front-ending Domino for quite some time now and they work VERY well.
The main thing to look out for is how aggressive the lists are. Some of the more agressive lists err on the side of blocking the mail rather than allowing it through. Two of the more agressive ones are SpamCop and Spews. So if you use those, you may want to keep your eye on the logs and keep your ears open for complaints.
We started with a large number of lists, and slowly whittled it down based on the complaints we were receiving. We now use the less aggressive lists that do more testing before listing someone and we do additional filtering afterwards.
The lists we use are dialups.relays.osirusoft.com (dialup addresses), relays.ordb.org (open relays), and sbl.spamhaus.org (known spamhouses).
