RBL usage: This is what I've seen so far ~Isaac Optoobergjip 20.Jan.03 01:36 PM a Web browser Domino Administrator 6.0All Platforms
I've started using spamhaus and spamcop with the 'log and tag' setting. Then for our support group (6 users), we use an agent to move tagged messages to a 'spam' folder.
This is what we see:
- The log shows about 1/3 of inbound messages tagged!
- My test users LOVE it, but want to keep it comming to the spam folder.
- I hate this because it still takes our bandwidth and disk space
The Problem: We have seen no tagged messages that we NEED, but there are some mass-mailings that users would 'like' to get, but they are tagged by spamcop. The messages all come from dartmail.net and are tech related. This is where a true whitelist would be the final key and we would just do this.
Fortunately our CIO is just about ready to pull the trigger despite low value collateral damage.
HELP - What would help convince our CIO is if we could capture a copy of all tagged messages for a few days. Some of you mentioned that you did this. Please enlighten me as to the code you used to do this. This would be a huge help.
Lotusphere - If any of you are going to Lotusphere, I would enjoy a chat about RBL use and experience. E-mail me or post if you are interested and suggest a time. I know session BP107 focuses on SPAM, but will probably have little real life RBL info. Perhaps some of us could meet just following one of those sessions.
Thanks again for all the feedback on this thread. This has been very helpful.
