Apologies for getting to this thread so late, but the Motorola 'SmartPhone' is NOT a Microsoft PocketPC OS device.
Sync software that works with PocketPC (or the new 'Phone Edition'), will most likely NOT work with the Smartphone devices.
I got this note from the folks at Commontime:
"The Smartphone OS (not to be confused with Pocket PC Phone Edition) is very different from the Pocket PC - having said that we already support Smartphone 2002 and will soon also be supporting Smartphone 2003. Please
ask people to contact us if they are still having problems with these devices - we can get mNotes installed and working for them."
