i found the domino express webcast and watched it, it answered most of my questions so in case anyone else wants the info (collaboration express only)
- you can have as many servers as you want just by purchasing one express user license
- the server has a couple of limitations that won't affect a smb or a personal use developer (was, cluserting/failover)
- the admin client is slightly resticted as well but that too would not affect an smb or personal use developer (xacl, dircat, dirassist, cascading dirs)
- the express user licence appears to be the equivalient to the old r5 admin user license, ie you can do everything within notes/domino, yes, even admin but you can't play with designer
- i really wish they had an express designer license, it would have rounded out the whole thing for smb's wanting to do inhouse development and especially for personal use developers. they could have even restricted it so that you could only have a single express designer license.
- also it appears that the express licences come with the standard passport (express?) 12 month software/support coverage, so i take it you can download and use any of the domino/notes software released during the following year, as well as annoy support with your problems. at the end of those 12 months you are required to either renew your passport membership or you have to stop downloading those upgrades and calling support.
