If you're getting prompted to return the receipt, your mail file design is customized. All regular bets are off.
Outlook Express has a setting to do this, why not Notes?
(going on my soapbox) Personally, I would do that for everyone/everywhere (listening Lotus?) Return receipts are more mis-used, than used. Some RR everything including "Hi wanna go to lunch?" and then keep the RR in perpetuity. Wouldn't mind that too much, but then they complain that they have a quota that they cannot possibly stay under. (off my soap box now)
