The only information I can find seems to indicate that Legato NetWorker is the only backup solution for on-line backups of a Domino server running on Linux. I can find plenty of Linux backup solutions, and plenty of Domino-aware backup solutions, but, so far, only one Linux Domino-aware backup solution.
Does anyone know of any others?
Secondarily, does anyone have guesstimates of costs for Legato and/or the other backup solutions (if any)? I don't know for sure, but I suspect Legato isn't cheap....
Linux makes a great inexpensive and robust platform, especially for servers for small companies or departmental servers, but, without a simple, reliable way to back them up without bringing them down, I can't see myself deploying them anywhere. And without that backup solution being inexpensive, one big advantage of Linux is rendered moot.
After all, it's not a question of if the hardware will fail, it's a matter of when. Backups are never optional.
