Just in case anybody else ever sees this particular bit of frippery......

Turns out that the solution for this one was to install Office XP service pack 2 on the servers in question. Beats me why the output looked like the domino login screen, but I guess that's all academic now.

Ah, the personal enjoyment to be gained from blaming another one on Microsoft!
