Here's your solution:
Select the document you want to link to in Lotus.
Go to Edit, Copy as Link.... Document Link
Open the Word Document.
Click on Edit, Past Special...
Select Paste Link -- As, Picture -- Check Display as Icon.

This will place an Icon in your Word document. Click on the Icon and it will launch Lotus and open the document you had select. ... Good luck!
