I'm new to the Lotus universe, so please be
patient with this kind of question ...

I learned from IBM's "Domino on Linux Redbook"
that Domino 6 comes with ADSync, a tool to synchronize user data betweeen Active Directory
and Domino.

As far as I understood, with ADSync it is
possible to import AD-accounts to Domino in
such a way, that the Windows/AD Passwords are
still valid on the Notes side afterwards.

Is that right? -- And if so, does that mean
that AD is used for authentication of these
accounts, or does it mean, that
the password-hashes are imported from AD and
that Windows AD hashing is compatible with
Domino's hashing in some way?

Furthermore, currently I have a JSP based
Webinterface to simultaneaous change
userpasswords in a number of different
resources.

Is it possible to extend this with some kind
of Notes/Domino classes to change domino
passwords
programatically from within my own Application?

If not possible with Java, are there other
methods to let my users manipulate their
passwords apart from using the dedicated Notes
Client or domino's web-frontend?

Thanks in advance for patience & help:

Jochen
