Sometimes is looks like 'Let someone else write your code for free' forum too:
"Hi, I have to develop a CRM application. Can someone send me an example"

"HEEELP There's a bug in that CRM application you sent!!! You have to fix it!!"

"I'm totally new to Notes. In order to run my (free) CRM application, I want to install a cluster of 3 domino server on WinXP home PC's (got them for $500 each!). Can someone point me in the right direction?"

"Hey, as a newbie I have some good idea's too. I noticed that Notes hasn't got an AutoCAD import filter! Wouldn't that be a great future feature? I'm convinced it will turn thousands of people to Notes!"

"You're right. Some folks realy got angry with me, asking the above questions .... If you help me out, I'll buy you lots of beer!"

A (little) bit more serious now :
I agree with you in most of your comments Bill. Still I'm not sure of splitting the forum would be a good thing. A good and extensive FAQ-database on notes.net is a must.
If you're out of beer, come around: I'll let you taste some real good beer!
