Some general comments from Lotus. ~Umberto Nongeroson 1.Oct.02 09:49 PM a Web browser General All ReleasesAll Platforms
1) Craig, where were you during beta? We had an open beta program for 21 months, yet you never posted a single comment to the beta forum. Why so verbose now? In fact, many of your questions/comments/concerns have been talked through in that forum, and you are showing yourself to be a step behind (or intentionally inaccurate) in some of your comments.
2) We have published papers, press releases, and had our most senior executives state that Domino will continue into the future based on the architecture of today. Analysts like Gartner, Giga, and Seybold have given this strategy very favorable reviews, much better than my competitor's incredibly muddled roadmap and architecture (not to mention easier to adopt and implement). You claim to have read these things yet have persisted in making inaccurate statements about both Websphere and DB2.
3) Since you keep mentioning .NET, could you draw a comparison for me of how Microsoft Exchange on .NET isn't a "feature" instead of a product? It (Kodiak) is being built on Windows' directory, security, administration and HTTP services, will use a SQL server-based data store, and doesn't do much more than message routing. Tell me how that's not a feature instead of a product?
4) The Notes/Domino business is in fact a revenue generator for IBM, profitably so (though in public I can't get any more specific than this). You have no basis for saying otherwise.
5) The official press and external launch events started today. There is a 42-city road show happening in the US and equivalents all over the world. Maybe I will see you at one?
