RE: Have you listed new client's Help, About version string in Desktop Settings doc? ~Sanjay Asatumiterjip 21.Jul.03 03:27 PM a Web browser Domino Server 6.0.2 CF1Windows 2000
Thank you for responding. I am attempting to upgrade from 5.0.x to 6.0.2 CF1. What version string do you recommend I try?
The VIEW has Client Version "182" listed as an example in their article. I am not sure what release that is. (6.0.0 maybe? I never used that version.)
When I compose a new E-Mail in 6.0.2 CF1 (after already upgrading and using the iNotes6.nsf template) and I do the @version +Shift +F9 trick, it says "191". Thus, that's what I believe the version string should be. If not, then the View's article is apparently wrong.
The Domino Admin Desktop Policy documentation says to "Enter the build version of the Notes client in the format Build Vnn_mmddyyyy (example, Build V60_06282002). To upgrade all versions, use an asterisk *."
My already-upgraded Notes client "About Notes" says it was released on June 9th, 2003. I am upgrading others to the same version. Thus, I have tried using "V60_06092003." That has not worked, thus the Domino Help documentation is apparently wrong.
I have now tried the following strings:
191
V60_06092003
6.0.2
6.0.*
Next, I am going to try:
6.0.2CF1 (Although no documentation tells me to use this structure.)
If that does not work, I am going to try "*".
At first, I was hesitant to try "*" since we still have some folks installing R5 because we have not officially rolled-out R6. However, on second thought, since the Desktop Policies should only work for clients using R6, then it should not hurt to use "*" because it won't cause problems until there is an R6.5 or R7?
I will let you know if 6.0.2CF1 or * works for me.
