FYI: Palm Tungsten W "cons"
~Mario Kigeromarynds 13.Jun.03 01:02 PM a Web browser
Domino Server All Releases All Platforms

In general, this is a nice device, but after a week of testing I have the following problem list:

- Switching between mobile apps. frequently fails with strange PPP, configuration, or even radio hardware errors. My favourite is the one that says my configuration is "all wrong" and that I should go and fix it before trying it again! (The configuration is just fine).

- PPP (maybe TCP/IP) reliability seems to drop much faster than signal strength.

- The web browser (Palm Web Pro) does not support Java, or HTTPS connections. Nor does it seem to reliably display graphics.

- The web browser mangles page layouts, does not support or handle frames very well.

Note: Some of these problems could be carrier (Rogers AT&T in Canada) related, or even related to the test Domino 6 application I created from scratch to play with.

In short, at this time, unless these problems go away, I can't approve this device for end-users. They would revolt and lynch me!

Then again, its only been a week! Testing will continue with Cadenza. Maybe it will host the Domino app. better.....

Rich.
