RE: A RISC-based workstation is *way* more expensive than Wintel. ~Gus Opfoolitnivu 28.Oct.03 08:18 AM a Web browser Notes Client 6.0Linux - RedHat
about hardware cost:
1) in my experience Mac processor of the same speed runs quicker that it's Intel counterparts
2) memory and disk? did you buy your memory and disk from Dell? Mac uses exactly the same disk and memory as your PC. If you bought it from Dell, you even overpaid as Dell itself is not the cheapest when it comes to purchasing parts.
Buy the lowest configuration of Mac, + few hundreds dollars worth of disk and RAM (not from your Mac dealer of course;-) and for a comparable price you have something nicely designed and user friendly; and you can even run virtual PC on it;-) Maybe this approach is not valid for iBooks though, dunno.
