How many times do they have to tell you that the current structure of Domino will continue to exist before you get it? Never?
Do you really think that the entire 90 million user base will willingly move to WebSphere-based Domino objects just because IBM tells them they have to?
If they do or don't, it will come down to one simple answer - whether or not it makes business sense. Gone are the days organizations does things that IS tells them to do on a whim.
Beyond that, using WebSphere as a base for collaborative objects make wonderful sense in some environments. Is it complex? Yes, it's complex. Where were SQL servers in 1990 - they were damned big, complex environments and everyone said they were too big for anyone but large organizations to use.
Now, we have SQL servers everywhere. We even have open source SQL Servers being used on Macintoshes (gasp!!!!)
This is part evolution. WebSphere will evolve - so will Domino. It is a very good long term vision that IBM is laying out.
Sometimes I wonder if as IS people we're just not plain lazy. <G>
