RE: Added in 5.0.9 -- STARTTLS extension ~Alexis Elluski 20.Nov.02 09:10 PM a Web browser Domino Server All ReleasesAll Platforms
Well I was running 5.08 in which ssl was completely broken there was an SPR for the fix upgraded to 5.0.10 this fixed the issue where it would now try and resend on port 25 if it could not connect on port 465 this was broken in 5.0.8 it would not try and resend at all and just sit there. But negotiated SSL did not work, if you selected this option it would still try and connect on port 465, if you configured SSL to work on port 25 instead of port 465 it broke all outbound SMTP mail. Maybe R6 has fixed this so everything works like it should but I have not been able test R6, This clearly was not a case of RTFM as 5.0.8 had SSL e mail completely broken and it was still not working properly on 5.0.10 and if it was Lotus could not tell me what I was doing wrong.
During this whole ordeal I did get the impression that they had no clue about this functionality and it was not used at all. By the end of my ordeal when I decided to route the SSL e mail to an Exchange server to send it out to the internet I felt I knew much more about this then the Lotus Reps I was working with.
