Notes/Domino 6 and 7 Forum : 100% CPU Usage

We are using the R6 Server for a mail gateway right now, mainly because of its Spam filtering options. The server is occassionally spiking the CPU usage to 100%. This can happen 2 or 3 times in a day or go for 3 days with no problems. Tell Router Quit and Load Router solves the problem and CPU usage returns to normal. When the CPU usage is spiked mail moves very slowly though the server and accumulates quickly in the mail boxes. Also mail to the company from the internet is backing up also.

We have had this problem with RC2 and Gold. We have had this problem on 3 different physical servers. Both times that I have installed Gold I have done a clean install of the OS and R6. The second install of Gold I also created a new Server ID so that it would not inherit the Server Doc from the original Server. We have about 350 users and are not taxing any of the servers that R6 has been on. Once the Router is restarted it can take anywhere from 15 to 230 seconds for the server to catch up, even if there and 150-200 messages in the mail boxes.

On the R6 Server we are using the Blacklist filter with only 1 blacklist site to check, 5 Rules (3 of which are pretty long), some deny connections and deny messages settings and are verifying that recipients are listed in the Domino Directory.

The vast majority of the time the CPU usage is less than 10%. I have found no consistency with the problem. Problem happens at misc times, size of messages does not seem to be an issue, it has spiked with no inbound connections and spiked with no outbound connections.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
