Although IBM wants us to believe that Websphere and Domino are two technologies that work together, I still wonder, what is the better technology for building a e-business.

I get the feeling, that for web development the websphere gives you the better development model.

I get the feeling that e-business means developing your own object modell, that somehow needs to have persistence for certain data.

I get the feeling that SQL is a wider accepted standard for data storage than Domino. And it is fast. And it can calculate better. It can bring data into relations. It can cover persistence.

I get the feeling that 3-tier-architecture is better because one can use MVC patterns such as Struts.

What are the pro's and con's if you want to decide between Domino and Websphere as your core app server?

Please do not send the usual IBM diplomatic answers.

I currently run a domino based Intranet/ebusiness solution, that we built for our company - based on Domino. I wonder if it would be wiser to switch to DB2, Websphere.

Get the discussion going ;->
Best regards,
Marky Goldstein
