I was doing some SSl searches in the R6 forum and it still seems Domino is using port 465 for outbound SSL e mail. My question is why? Port 465 is an older revoked standrd and does not comply with RFC code on SSL/TSL transmissions.
This feature is essentialy broken unless another the recieving side of the SSL e mail is using domino and has incoming SSl setup. And it that case why not just use relplication through notes?
The majority of other E mail servers use TSL/SSL commands through port 25 and it's pretty sad that Lotus has not conformed to the RFC standard 3 years after the port 465 was revoked.
Here is a link talking a little about this

I spent nearly 6 months trying to get outbound SSL working at my company just to find out Lotus is using an old revoked standard for outbound SSL e mail.
