Yes, Websphere is too expensive, but J2EE isn't ! There are plenty free alternatives available out there (well, free, you still need to pay the experts of course :-) ).
And isn't it great you can run your Domino on (almost) any platform you like ! Using .NET on Linux isn't an option yet (as far as I know)...
I think it's not a bad thing Domino moves towards a J2EE service-provider, mainly because I believe the J2EE architecture is the future. And I can't blame IBM for trying to sell Websphere, it's their cashcow, as long as there are free/reasonably priced alternatives for the SMB market.
