The servlets would run much faster than Domino agents especially if there
was some processing involved beyond just data retrieval.
I often find this on Notes.Net. What is this near-obsession people have with
agents as data integration tool? An agent should be the development strategy
of last resort for Domino.
I don't mean to pick on anyone. It's just that I hear people saying this about
stuff like shopping carts, and I can't ever figure out why you'd try to
maintain a shopping cart session model in an agent within Domino. Using the
document model would seem substantially more effective.
It's also worth noting that you can run a Java servlet in Domino to access DB2
via JDBC just as well as the Websphere server can. Java's Java. (Well, until
we get into discussions about JVM versions, but Domino 6 is a good improvement
there.)
