Domino server crashes on AMGR when the OutOfOffice agent attempts to reply to a long Subject field

Technote Number: 1178185

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR SPR# AANE63SQUR and was
reportedly fixed in Domino 6.5.2 FP1, Domino 6.5.3 FP1, Domino 6.0.5, and
Domino 6.5.4. Please note, however, that there was at least one report of this
crash, or a similar crash, on a release 6.5.4 server. This similar 6.5.4 crash
was reported as SPR # LPEE6DMQWJ and was fixed in Domino 7.0.2, Domino 6.5.4
Fix Pack 2 and Domino 6.5.5.

Excerpt from the Lotus Domino Release 6.5.5 MR and 6.5.4 Fix Pack 1 fix lists
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/):
Agents
SPR# LPEE6DMQWJ - Fixed an Agent Manager crash "PANIC: LookupHandle: handle out
of range" which occurred when the Out Of Office agent processed a malformed
message.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.5 / 6.5.4 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
Agents
SPR# AANE63SQUR - This fix will prevent a crash in the client mailer lookup
code caused by a badly formatted subject. When an OutOfOffice agent ran in a
user's database, the Server crash occurred. This regression was introduced in
6.5.2 and was fixed in 6.0.5, 6.5.4, 6.5.3 FP1 and 6.5.2 FP1.

As a temporary workaround, deleting the bad message will prevent the server
from crashing.

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.
