Install/Setup/Registration
SPR# JKEY6B65SZ - Fixed shortcuts for silent installs. The Desktop shortcuts
(Notes, Designer and Admin) were not being installed when 6.5.4 was installed
silently. This regression was introduced in 6.5.4.
Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.
Supporting Information:
The issue is caused by a change made to the Lotus Notes.MSI in 6.5.4. It does
not occur using the 6.5.3 Lotus Notes.MSI and does not occur when the
installation is completed with user intervention in Notes 6.5.4.
If you are unable to upgrade to Notes 6.5.5, to avoid the issue, reinstall the
client using the 6.5.3 Client Installation package, or obtain a new Lotus Notes
6.5.4.MSI created for the Client-only and All Client installation packages. You
can replace the Lotus Notes 6.5.4.MSI that was shipped with the client with one
available from Lotus.
Note: Please contact Lotus support to obtain the new 6.5.4 MSI.
Once you have the single executable for the Notes 6.5.4 client installation,
you can use the following procedure to extract the installation files and
replace the existing Lotus Notes 6.5.4.MSI with the new one:
Obtain the executable from Lotus. Full install executables are named
"c******.exe", where the asterisks represent a combination of alphanumeric
characters.
Run the executable, but stop when you get to the first installation screen.
Run a search on the operating system to locate the file Data1.cab or
LotusNotes.itw. These installation files will be extracted to a subdirectory of
the Windows temp folder named "pft***.tmp".
Copy all eight of the installation files in the subdirectory to another folder
on the OS. These eight files will be used to run the client Installation.
Go back to the Notes setup and select Cancel.
In the folder that contains the install files, delete the existing Lotus Notes
6.5.4.MSI and replace it with the one attached in this Technote. Place this
folder in a network location that is accessible to all users who will being
installing/upgrading the client.
This procedure will need to be done for the All Client and Client Only
Installation Packages.
You can then install the client by pointing to the Lotus Notes 6.5.4.MSI or
setup.exe, using SmartUpgrade, Silent Installs, or your chosen installation
method. More >
