Regression in 5.0.2

Product Area: Technical Area: Calendaring & Scheduling Platform: Cross Platform

SPR# KCHL4CG7HN, APAI4FJTRJ, HAN4E5LDZ, YGUO4ENA8V - Fixed a problem introduced in R5.0.2 in which Free Time was corrupted in the Calendar Preferences dialog when using non-English operating system regional settings for time.

Technote Number: 1095577

Problem:
This problem was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and was addressed in
Notes/Domino 5.0.3; however, the problem resurfaced in 5.0.6 and 5.0.6a. To
fully address the problem (for either International and North American time
settings), upgrade either the Domino Server or Notes Client to Release 5.0.7;
either upgrade will give you access to the 5.0.7 mail template.

Important Note: To solve this issue, do not simply replace the design of the
mail template with the 5.0.7 mail template. You must perform the following
steps in order to completely fix the issue.

1. In the Notes mail file, select Actions, Tools, Preferences.
2. Select the Calendar tab, then select the Free Time sub-tab.
3. Uncheck/deselect the days of the week that are currently listed with
available times. Click OK.
4. Replace the design of the mail file with the 5.0.7 mail template (choose
"Local" if upgrading the client or "Server" if upgrading the server).
5. Select Actions, Tools, Preferences.
6. Select the Calendar tab, then the Free Time sub-tab.
7. Select the days of the week that were previously selected as being
available. Click OK.

The reason why this process has to be done is because the template updates only
the design elements, and not the values. By selecting the days of the week
after the design of the mail file is replaced, the new values will be updated
correctly.

Supporting Information:

History of the problem:

The problem first occurred in Notes/Domino 5.0.2 if the Regional Settings time
format in the Windows operating system was set to HH:mm:ss. If a person
upgraded their mail template to 5.0.2 and went into the Free Time tab in the
preferences to modify their available times and clicked OK, they would see the
error message, "Cannot Interpret Time or Date". And when selecting Cancel in
that error dialog box, the "Cannot interpret Date or Time" error would display
in the fields for the days that they selected to be available. This issue was
addressed in 5.0.2a and 5.0.2b (spr #SKLZ4F3ER8). The fix was for new mail
files created with the 5.0.2a or 5.0.2b template; new mail files created with
the 5.0.2a or 5.0.2b mail template did not experience this issue. However,
existing mail files which used the 5.0.2 mail template still experienced this
issue, even if the mail file design was replaced with the new 5.0.2a or 5.0.2b
template. The issue was fully addressed in Notes/Domino release 5.0.3 (spr
#KCHL4CG7HN). A number of date interpretation changes were made in 5.0.3 which
resolved all problem scenarios when modifying the available times on the Free
Time tab.

Note: Even though the issue first appeared in Notes/Domino 5.0.2 when the
Regional Settings time format in the Windows operating system was set to
HH:mm:ss, it also began appearing in Notes/Domino 5.0.2a and 5.0.2b even when
the Regional Settings Time format was set to a North American Time format.

Date interpretation improvements in 5.0.2a, 5.0.2b and 5.0.3:

A number of date interpretation improvements were also made in Notes release
5.0.2a, 5.0.2b, and 5.0.3. Please be sure to read the Note at the end of this
section for information on implementing these improvements.

problems with the new R5 feature which attempts to interpret dates/times
entered by the user which do not strictly conform to the format in the user
preferences or in the database designer preferences. Lotus now provides a
NOTES.INI variable, StrictDateTimeInput, which reverts to pre-R5 behavior and
gives the user errors (instead of interpreting unambiguous dates which are
merely formatted incorrectly). [5.0.2a,5.0.3]

Template - Resource Reservations
+SPR# APAI4EMM5L - Fix a problem introduced in R5.0.2 which caused time range
values to be corrupted, when using non-English operating system regional
settings for time, producing the error, "Unable to Interpret Time or Date".
[5.0.2b,5.0.3]

Note: To implement these fixes, do not simply replace the design of the mail
template. First use the 5.0.3 mail template where the issue is truly fixed for
both International and North American settings.

1. In the Notes mail file, select Actions, Tools, Preferences.
2. Select the Calendar tab, then select the Free Time sub-tab.
3. Uncheck the days of the week that are currently listed with available times.
Click OK.
4. Replace the design of the mail file with the 5.0.3 mail template.
5. Select Actions, Tools, Preferences.
6. Select the Calendar tab, then the Free Time sub-tab.
7. Check the days of the week that were previously selected as being
available. Click OK.

The reason why this process has to be done is because the template updates only
the design elements and not the values. By selecting the days of the week
after the design of the mail file is replaced, the new values will be updated
correctly.
