Product Area: Server Technical Area: Directory Services Platform: Cross Platform

Lotus Customer Support APAR: LO12978

SPR# PPET6METPF - Fixed an LDAP server problem which caused search operations to return no matches when the attribute value in a filter contains a '.' character. For example, ldapsearch -h myhost "(street=1 S.*)". This regression was introduced in 6.5.5.

Technote Number: 1157196

Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering and has been fixed in Domino
6.0.4 and 6.5.2.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.4 / 6.5.2 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

Directory Services
SPR# KHAN5UQSJL - Fixed an issue where LDAP Full Text searches which include
special characters (i.e., period) returned incorrect results.

As a workaround, remove the full text index on the names.nsf.

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.

A similar problem can occur in later versions of Domino in cases where a
wildcard search character is used right before or after one a special
character. For example, the search (CN=*A. User) and (CN=John A. U*) will
return results correctly, but the search (CN=*. User) or (CN=John A.*) will
fail. This behavior has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR#
PPET6METPF and is currently under investigation.
