(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/):

Directory Services
SPR# GDAY5VEL7Z - After a successful look-up of a name using type-ahead, all
subsequent type-ahead/NameLookups were broken. This problem has been fixed in
6.0.5 and 6.5.4.

This situation occurs because of the NameLookup cache under the following
conditions:

-- Directory Assistance is configured for secondary directories on a Domino 6.x
Server.

-- A Notes 6.x client is configured in the primary directory's domain with the
current Location Document's "Recipient name lookup" field set to "Exhaustively
check all address books." Everything else is left as default. When using this
option, the NameLookup can somehow becomes corrupt. Since it's also possible
that the cache cleans up overnight, this might be the reason the problem only
occurs intermittently.

-- You create a memo, type the first few characters of a user name from the
secondary address book, and press ENTER. This should either enter the user name
in the Send To field or display the Ambiguous Names dialog box, if there is
more than one match for the string. This works as expected.

However, if you create another memo, type the same set of characters as the
first memo, and press ENTER, no match will be found (or if a match was found in
the primary directory, only that match is shown). If you add or remove a
character from the string, the lookup will work only once for that string.

-- Other users on Notes 6.x clients that use the same server for name lookups
cannot use the same string as in the previous step. If they use a different
string, the result is a successful name resolution for one time only.

-- Other users on Notes 5.0.12 clients that use the same server for name
lookups cannot use the same string as in the previous step. However, if they
use a different string, the result is a successful resolution which can be
reused without a problem.

Workarounds:

-- A possible workaround is to restart the Domino Server.

-- The NameLookup cache can be cleared manually by issuing the command, "show
nlcache reset" at the server console. You can also disable the cache by setting
the Notes.INI parameter as follows: "NLCACHE_DISABLE=1".
