Technote Number: 1094831

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.3 MR fix list (available at
http://www.lotus.com/ldd):
SPR# DREE5E4M3Y - Directory Catalog no longer incorrectly allocates and frees a
Notes item upon a DirCat Note update. This regression was introduced in 6.0.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Copy the names2.nsf and names3.nsf to your server data directory.
2. Create a directory catalog on your server by doing a File > Database > New
(dc.nsf).
3. Configure your directory catalog and fill in the "Send Directory Catalog
reports to" field with a person that is in the Domino Directory.
4. Also set up an extended Directory catalog, the same way as above, except
that the extended directory catalog is under Servers > Extended Directory
Catalog (this is based on names.nsf).
5. On the server console, type "load dircat names.nsf"; this works fine.
6. However, when you type "load dircat dc1.nsf on the server console, the
server crashes.
Supporting Information
It was found that it was not just the simple act of rebuilding the dircat that
caused the problem; rather, it was the fact that notes that already existed in
the directory catalog contained a "Universal Sort" item. During a rebuild,
these notes needed to be "split" into multiple notes, and it was the split
routine that was choking when it encountered that offending item. More >
