Lotus Customer Support APAR: LO06989

SPR# ABUI6A5JMU - Duplicate entries appear in DWA and the personal Address Book after synchronization.

Technote Number: 1202679

Problem:
The customer encountered this issue because the mail file had become corrupt;
the customer restored a copy from backup. A "copy" of a database versus a
"replica" of a database means that the database has a new replica ID which is
different from that of the original database,

When a new replica ID is used the sync agent does not know there are already
existing contacts and thus duplicates all existing contacts.

This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# ABUI6A5JMU, and is fixed
in Domino Web Access 6.5.5 and 7.0.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Release 6.5.5 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

Mail Client
SPR# ABUI6A5JMU - Duplicate entries appear in DWA and the personal Address Book
after synchronization.

Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.

Steps to reproduce issue:

Environment:
Domino server: 6.5.3
Client: 6.5.3
Mail Template: iNotes6.ntf
OS: windows 2000 and XP sp1 & 2

1. Open your local Address Book.
2. Create an entry that has no first or last name, just a company name (for
example, "Pizza Hut"). Add a phone number for this business.
3. Copy the new contact (press CTRL + C).
4. Open your mail database.
5. Open the All Documents view.
6. Paste the new business contact into the All Documents view (you will not
see the contact in the view using a Notes Client, but you can see it with DWA).
7. Run the Address Book Synchronization agent.
8. Notice that there are now 2 "Pizza Hut" entries.

The contacts in the mail database can be synchronized to any number of target
Address Book databases.
