Product Area: Server Technical Area: Web Server Platform: Unix

Lotus Customer Support APAR: LO00588

SPR# AKNX5TXRYL - The error message "ERROR READING FEILD VALUE FOR lnaBody" was displayed when opening a new mail message, using Sun's 1.3.1 JVM in the editor applet. Note: FEILD is no longer spelled wrong in the error message. These problems have been fixed in 6.0.5 and 6.5.4.

Technote Number: 1155463

Problem:
The latest versions of the Sun JVM (such as 1.4.x) do not exhibit these
problems. The latest JVM can be downloaded and installed from Sun at
http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp

Other Possible Workarounds:

- Disable the Java applet for the Rich Text field ("Using HTML" on Web Access,
instead of "Using Java Applet").

For example, in a discussion database: Open the forms "Main Topic,"
"Response." and "Response to Response." Select the Body field in each form and
open the Field properties. On the first tab of the InfoBox that appears, go to
the 'Web Access' section and select "Using HTML" (rather than "Using Java
Applet") for the Display property.

-OR-

Edit the Rich Text fields so that they have a default text value.

The misspelling in the error message text was reported to Quality Engineering
as SPR# AKNX5TXRYL, and has been fixed in Domino 6.0.5 and 6.5.4.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.0.5 / 6.5.4 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):

SPR# AKNX5TXRYL - The error message "ERROR READING FEILD VALUE FOR lnaBody" was
displayed when opening a new mail message, using Sun's 1.3.1 JVM in the editor
applet. Note: FEILD is no longer spelled wrong in the error message. These
problems have been fixed in 6.0.5 and 6.5.4.

Steps To Reproduce Issue:

1. Download and install SUN JVM 1.3.1_07, for example (Domino DOES support
Java 1.3.1).
2. Create a new discussion database on 6.0.3 or 6.5 server.
3. Open this db in the browser
4. Create a new Main Topic document: you should now see this error in the RTF.

This issue is also reproducible in ANY Rich Text field using JAVA applet with
these versions of the SUN JVM.
