No abstract provided.

Explanation:

Specifies whether the SMTP task requires inbound addresses that appear in MAIL FROM commands or RCPT TO commands be properly formed according to the RFC821 standard (must contain <>):

0 (default) - Does not enforce 821 standard

1 - Enforces 821 standard

Inbound messages that do not conform to RFC821 fail in protocol, the MAIL FROM command fails, and the sending SMTP client sees the failure.

Examples of failure, when set to 1:

mail from:<bob>

501 Syntax error, parameters in command "mail from:<bob>" unrecognized or missing

mail from:bob@acme.com

501 Syntax error, parameters in command "mail from:bob@acme.com" unrecognized or missing

Example of success, when set to 1:

mail from:<bob@acme.com>

250 bob@acme.com... Sender OK

Note: It is not possible to forbid MAIL FROM:<>, which is required by the RFC for Non-Delivery Reports and Delivery Status Notifications to prevent looping.

Applies to:

Servers

Default Value:

0

UI Equivalent:

None

Syntax:

SMTPStrict821AddressSyntax = value
